Just got this new Burris Timberline for my BSA Ultra.I was looking for a smaller scope that had good glass but wouldnt break the bank and i believe i found a winner!!!!

First off i will say it is only 11" long and very compact if thats what your looking for.Weight is 14ozs.

The glass on it is very sharp and clear with no fuzziness, etc,,,,as you turn the power up from 4x to 14 it doesnt get blurry, darker etc,,,,,remains clear and very bright. It has a 32mm front AO that is very compact and will focus down to 7yds even on 14x.

it has a Ballistic Plex reticle that is similar to a mildot and if i do have a complaint its that the dots can be a little bigger

The AO is very smooth and not hard to turn as some AO are,,,,also range finds within a few yds between distances of 7yds to 50yds.

The reticle adjustments can either be hand turned or turned with a coin,,,,never seen adjustments quite like these but are very positive clicks with no mushy feel to them.

The power adjustment is also very smooth with well marked numbers. It has a raised knotch on the ring to make the adjustments easier.

I am very pleased with the optics of this scope and how compact it is.Anyone looking for a smaller scope with good glass that doesnt break the bank i would highly reccommend this Burris. It comes with a lifetime warranty and goes for about $190.I purchased mine from the OpticZone because ive had very good service through them before.

Here is a few more pics for those that are interested.

Keith,
The scope gives the gun some bulk a nice looking setup. Looks like the Timberline was a good selection especially for the the price and performance review you gave.
I am going to keep this is mind for a possible next hunting gun scope selection.
I like the ability to focus down to smaller than 10 yards is how is the focus at that range?
Thanks for taking the time to post the review and excellent photos to go along.

Cool

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to post all those pics and do such a nice review! Much appreciated! That scope sounds like a winner. Could be a great HFT scope too with the ballistic-plex reticle. I like those reticles -not as crowded or 'busy' as some of the other fancy reticles... I'm interested in the glass quality/clarity: do you have other scopes to compare it to? Better than the legend 5-15? Not as good as a 4200? Have any comparisons of that sort you could share with us?

THANKS!!!

Scott,

I have a Legend 5-15 and a 6-24 SF 4200 and i would compare this glass very favorable to them. Its definately as good as the Legend. The 32mm front objective probaly doesnt gather quite as much lite in lowlite conditions but the glass on this Burris Timberlie is very good in my opinion.Rite on par with the other scopes i mentioned.

I just returned a Hawke Varmiter ll 8-32 x 44 because i was very disapointed in the optics of it,,,,,this scopes blows it away and is a much smaller scope.

Marv,The clarity of the glass at 7 yds is very good and the focus is very clear,,,,it definately focuses on 14x @ 7yds.

Hope this helps guys,
Kdog

Kdog, I have several of the Short-Mag scopes Burris makes with the Ballistic Plex reticle and I agree with you they are fine scopes. Especially when you want to keep the size down. I've had them for a couple of years now and haven't had any troubles with them. Nice setup you have there, thanks for sharing.

Dirtdawg,

Ive had a Leupold 3-9 EFR and although very fine glass indeed the price is very steep. For almost $200 less id go with this Burris every day of the week and then some Very Happy

PERFECT! Thanks for that Kdog! Exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. Sounds too good to pass up -especially at that price. I can feel my credit card burning a hole in my pocket as I type this Very Happy ... Better call opticzone ASAP! Cool

Thanks again for sharing the info! Enjoy the new scope! Looks great on top of your Ultra!
